NSPE-Ohio's Professional Engineers in Industry Practice Division is pleased to announce its Ohio New Product Award Competition. If your company has developed a new process or product, it may be eligible for the state and national compeittion. Nominations are grouped according to the size of the manufacturing company. Winners will be selected in four firm size categories:
- Small - 50 or fewer employees
- Medium - 51-200 employees
- Large - 201-9,999 employees
- Mega - 10,000 or more employees

Ohio Engineers Legislative Day, April 25
Earn 4.0 CPD hours during Ohio Engineers Legislative Day, on Friday, April 25, 9:00 AM-1:30 PM. This virtual program, sponsored by the NSPE-Ohio and cosponsored by IEEE Columbus Section, features State Senator Louis W. Blessing, III, PE, and various experts in their fields who will discuss engineering and public policy. Senator Blessing, Ohio’s only engineer legislator and a member of NSPE-Ohio, will provide updates on current legislation affecting engineers. NSPE-Ohio lobbyist Sydney Sanders (Governmental Policy Group) will discuss Ohio's administrative rule-making process, explaining how rules in executive agencies (that impact engineering work) are made. Phil Yoder, MBA, ATP, will analyze the recent aircraft accident in Washington, DC, focusing on aviation safety and policy lessons. Cincinnati's Assistant Fire Chief Matthew Flagler will cover the reconstruction of the I-471/Daniel Carter Beard bridge after a fire, highlighting collaboration between state and local entities. Hassan Hayat, M.Eng., will discuss challenges in integrating data centers with electrical transmission networks. NSPE-Ohio Associate membership dues include membership in NSPE-Ohio and your local chapter, and the $25 annual subscription cost of OhioEngineer magazine. NSPE-Ohio dues are not deductible as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes but may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. NSPE-Ohio estimates that 23 percent of your Ohio dues is not deductible because of NSPE-Ohio lobbying activities on behalf of its members. Pursuant to the Internal Revenue Code, this percentage of your dues is not deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for details.
