MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide middle‑school math enrichment and competition program that challenges students through three progressive levels of contests: Chapter, State, and National. Each February, thousands of sixth‑, seventh‑, and eighth‑grade students begin at the Chapter level—competing as individuals or as part of a team—in fast‑paced problem‑solving rounds for the chance to advance.
Top performers from the local Chapter competitions move on to the Ohio Competition in March—an exciting, high‑energy event that brings together the state’s strongest mathletes to celebrate their hard work and compete for the opportunity to represent Ohio at the prestigious National MATHCOUNTS Competition. The top four individuals at the Ohio State Competition earn the honor of advancing to Nationals, where they will compete against the best teams from across the country.
Together, the Chapter, State, and National levels create a powerful pathway that builds confidence, fosters collaboration, and inspires a lifelong love of mathematics.
