Earn 4.0 CPD hours during Ohio Engineers Legislative Day, on Friday, April 25, 9:00 AM-1:30 PM. This virtual event features State Senator Louis W. Blessing, III, PE, and various experts in their fields who will discuss engineering and public policy.
Senator Blessing, Ohio’s only engineer legislator and a member of NSPE-Ohio, will provide updates on current legislation affecting engineers. NSPE-Ohio lobbyist Sydney Sanders (Governmental Policy Group) will discuss Ohio's administrative rule-making process, explaining how rules in executive agencies (that impact engineering work) are made. Phil Yoder, MBA, ATP, will analyze the recent aircraft accident in Washington, DC, focusing on aviation safety and policy lessons. Cincinnati's Assistant Fire Chief Matthew Flagler will cover the reconstruction of the I-471/Daniel Carter Beard bridge after a fire, highlighting collaboration between state and local entities. Hassan Hayat, M.Eng., will discuss challenges in integrating data centers with electrical transmission networks.
