Ohio MATHCOUNTS Print

The MATHCOUNTS program attracts 7,000 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students to local sites throughout Ohio for a day of mathematics competition. The program is designed to heighten each student's awareness of the importance of mathematics.

The local MATHCOUNTS programs are held in mid-February. Each student participates as an individual and as part of a team. Around 250 students from the local competitions will advance to the statewide competition at Columbus State Community College in March. The top four individuals at the Ohio competition will progress to the National MATHCOUNTS Competition where they will compete against the top team from each state.

WHEN AND WHERE:  The OhioMATHCOUNTS competition will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Columbus State Community College, Columbus, Ohio. (Directions to follow) Check-in will take place in the Delaware Hall Gymnasium.

RULES:  To compete, students must be registered as part of a team or as an individual. Only registered (paid) students may compete.  It is of utmost importance that the coaches and mathletes are familiar with the MATHCOUNTS School Handbook, particularly the section entitled "MATHCOUNTS COMPETITIONS." We will be abiding by these rules regarding eligible participants, substitutions, etc.

SPECIAL NEEDS:  We need to know of any special needs of the participants as soon as possible. Please call the Engineers Foundation of Ohio (EFO) at 614-223-1177 with this information.

LUNCHES:  The coaches and mathletes will be provided with a lunch free of charge.
